Introduction

AI chat bots are becoming more popular every day. People enjoy chatting with them, but not everyone feels safe about it. Meta has now introduced new tools that give parents more control over how teens use these chat bots. The change comes after people raised concerns about flirty or unsafe AI conversations. Meta says these updates will help make online spaces safer for young users.

What Meta Is Changing

Meta is rolling out several new safety features for teens. Parents will now be able to disable private one-on-one chats between their children and AI characters. They can also block specific chat bots and view general topics their teens discuss with AI without seeing exact messages. These new settings will launch first on Instagram in countries like the U.S., U.K., Canada, and Australia. Meta also announced that all teen-related AI experiences will follow PG-13 content guidelines, ensuring that conversations stay age-appropriate and safe.

Protecting Teen Users Online

Meta made these changes after getting a lot of complaints. Some AI chatbots were using flirty or confusing language with teens. Many parents felt worried about how their children were chatting with AI. Meta wants to fix this by giving parents more control. With these tools, teens can still enjoy using AI, but in a safer and more respectful way.
